Promoted by a series of mixtapes released in the previous two years, in 2007 Hell Razah released his third CD, his second solo six years after the previous one. During this time, the Brooklyn rapper released albums with Sunz of Man, joined the group Black Market Militia and collaborated on Killah Priest's records. With this third solo effort in six years, Razah cements his place in the underground game, feeling he has broken away from Wu-Tang and been reborn artistically, hence the album's title. The production is assembled by a dozen different artists: Bronze Nazareth, Dirty Needlez and Jordan River Banks of Godz Wrath (with one of his first beats), 4th Disciple, MF DOOM,, Krohme, Fabrizio Sotti, Dev 1, Shuko, DJ Battle, Focis and Smokeshop Productions. The guests are Viktor Von, Talib Kweli, Tragedy Khadafi, Ras Kass, Maccabeez, Killah Priest, RA the Rugged Man and Bronze Nazareth.
As already mentioned in the previous paragraphs, the author believes he has broken away from the Wu-Tang Clan, nevertheless, a good part of the contributions in this publication come from artists still in some way linked to Wu. Among producers, Dev 1 has produced for Timbo King (of Royal Fam) and Masta Killa, Bronze Nazareth is part of Wu-affiliated group Wisemen and is also a guest on "Los Pepes Pt. 1", 4th Disciple is credited as El Divine and is a member of Killarmy and DJ Battle produced for Prodigal Sunn (of Sunz of Man). Among the guests there are some absolute heavyweights: Hell Razah gets Viktor Von aka MF DOOM as both guest and producer, then there are Talib Kweli of Black Star and RA the Rugged Man. In addition to them and the aforementioned Bronze, Ras Kass and Tragedy Khadafi make their way, guys who are somehow present in the Wu universe as part of two Killah Priest groups, The Four Horsemen and Black Market Militia respectively. As if that wasn't enough, a third Killah Priest group is present as guests, Maccabeez, which includes two members of Black Market Militia, Timbo King and Hell Razah. Iron Shiek from Middle East himself appears in "Smoking Gunnz".
The guests don't disappoint and provide some great performances for the New York MC: the disk starts off well with some of Hell Razah's best tracks, thanks in part to precise production and excellent rapping, forging the highlights "Renaissance", starring Timbo King, Tragedy Khadafi and R.A. The Rugged Man over the production of Dev 1, and "Project Jazz", which boasts Talib Kweli and Viktor Vaughn on a soundscape realized by MF DOOM. The album The disc suffers in the central section, starting from the weak track for the club "Yours Truly", finding better tunes with the arrival of the other guests in the second half.
Released by Nature Sounds and Nu Kemit Entertainment, it's an honest effort, recommended for Sunz of Man and Hell Razah fans. 7/10.
