Onyx — Onyx 4 Life

Studio album number thirteen for Onyx, a duo made up of Fredro Starr and Sticky Fingaz.

After releasing a disappointing project the year before, Onyx redeem themselves with this LP of 13 tracks and about 40 minutes of listening, spitting raw on a set of similar boom baps, with some haunting samples and a few melodic overtones. The two boys seem to have found the energy of the good times, albeit without being able to build anything memorable due to a lack of inspiration and a sound that has hardly ever been changed from the first album. Interesting is the function of Cappadonna who spits with his dirty and energetic style in "Club of Fire". There's very little else to say, their apex remains stuck in the first three discs, and they know it too, continuing to focus on their niche of fans and using titles that should refer to their legacy in the game, built around the mid-nineties, when several hip-hop artists interpreted the game better than them. 6.5/10.
