This type of product comes when you have lost attention in hip-hop circles, no one talks about you anymore and you feel that you haven't received and aren't receiving enough flowers. I want to thank me, dogs I'm there too, I'm Snoop, the good old Snoop. Dogg, as the cover shows, a clever tribute to the paintings commissioned by an advertising company to the painter Cassius Marcellus Coolidge or much more simply, a "let's take one of those cool dogs drawings and replace them with my figure everywhere".
DJ Battlecat is the most present producer, his beats are passable and linked to some of the best moments of the disc — "So Misinformed": Snoop delivers an inspired socio-political cut with Slick Rick which is in the same laid-back mood, on Bob Marley's "Get Up, Stand Up" sample; "One Blood, One Cuz", homage to Nipsey Hussle with sample from Whodini's "One Love" for the hook — however, when he steps away from the keyboards, the project collapses under amateurish, shoddy, ridiculous rhythms. Swizz Beatz mimics a g-funk beat poorly for "Countdown", everything else on the album is heavily patchy and messy: Snoop Dogg tries to attract audiences from every possible market, placing West Coast tracks, rnb, trap, soul, Latin and many songs directed to the club.
Most of these 22 tracks are annoying and weak, guests are scarce, Chris Brown is still alive and his contribution is irrelevant. Almost the entire second half of the 75-minute disc is completely forgettable and bad, two tracks are saved: "Doo Wop Thank Me" is a soulful solo by The HamilTones, and is preceded by "Wintertime in June", Nate Dogg's posthumous contribution, where he flows sublime on a decent rhythm. The tribute to "The Next Episode" at the end of the title track is quite casual. Snoop demands a musical attention that he's no longer able to obtain as in the past: published by his label and distributed by EMPIRE, the tape has a better result in the foreign charts, where his name is still fresh and cannot make it into the top 40 rap records. Clear and definitive sign of the boy's end as a mainstream rap artist. 4/10.
