A pretty interesting debut studio album for the last knight of the army from Buffalo, El Camino is on the Griselda team and brings you Griselda lyrics and Griselda sounds.
Great boom bap jazzy mafioso made by Bozack Morris for the intro on shooting in a restaurant in Buffalo, New York. "Ghetto" follows, an excellent ethereal boom bap jazzy, a wonderful work by the beatmaker Nicholas Craven, with a soulful sample looped in the background, a smooth delivery by Elcamino, and excellent hook too. Dope track. The title track features another guessed production, this time by the major producer of the album, Shay, who finds a light jazzy rhythm on which the Buffalo rapper delivers smooth and technical, dope in one of his best songs. A couple of solid joints follow on essential jazzy rhythms, the first created by Shay is modern, the next one presents a bouncing beat with excellent soul sample looped in the background, created by IceRocks. The first featuring of the LP is offered by El Carnicero, who starts to slice the song on a rhythmic and disturbing jazzy production by Boodeini, Elcamino is quite at ease in this gloomy mood. The producer Shay returns in "Coke", providing a beautiful boom bap jazzy and sampling a classic, Them Two's amazing "Am I Good Man"; excellent rapper delivery in one of the highs of this effort.
The same producer remains for the next song, light and essential beat jazzy, supported by an excellent sample looped in the background, El Camino isn't wrong and builds a nice track with a light and smoothness delivery. "Gas Stove" is a pretty good song, the producers start to vary (Rick Hyde here) but the sound doesn't suffer of too many qualitative variations, in this song it remains a rhythmic, alternative, bouncy, essential jazzy sound that's the background to the crackling delivery of Griselda rapper. "Rayful Bag" is the last record in which Shay realizes his production: the rhythm is tense, skeletal here, sometimes brilliant, then a heavy and sharp bass line arrives that stops the enthusiasm of the rhythm, Elcamino is impeccable, helped by a Benny inspired and blessed by Wu-Tang. The guest also remains for the following song, "Shook": excellent boom bap jazzy dark, and pounding, great effort in production by Lucky, excellent delivery of Elcamino, Benny goes to kill the cut, Meyhem closes in style. It closes a light outro, keeps jazzy vibes thanks to a rhythm just hinted in the background, masterpiece of Fat Beats. With skit, heavenly boom bap in the second part.
It's one of the top records in Elcamino catalog, often hailed as his finest project.
Highlights: "Ghetto", "Walking on Water", "Coke", "Rayful Bag".
Rating: 7.5/10.
