Dream Killer is one of the most overlooked and ignored projects in Tha God Fahim's vast discography and one of the reasons is due precisely to the infinity of tapes continuously dropped by the artist.
In these ten short tracks, Fahim alternates equally with Jlvsn behind the keyboards, the rhythm of the first follows that of the second and so on. The only interruption is represented by the sound carpet provided by Preservation in "Asta La Vista" featuring Juju Gotti, that while breaking the sequence [of beats between Fahim and Jlvsn] and the atmosphere of the album, manages to maintain a high quality which isn't to be taken for granted, because the other two had set the bar higher than usual.
Fahim delivers bars with an energetic, hardcore, slow, focused and confident style, he sounds at his finest faithfully supported by an excellent fantastic production, absolutely one of the best (if not the best I've heard so far) among its thousands of tapes, founded once again on bewitching, ethereal, splendid and brilliant loops. These twenty-six minutes deserve to be appreciated, this whole series of tracks is magnificent. "Relaxation" seems to go easily for the title of the best track, but a few minutes later "Stone Powers" arrives to claim the same award: the crystal clear sample of this latter song seems to come from one of the film pieces by Piero Umiliani, Ludovico Einaudi or Riz Ortolani, it's instead a pearl by Siegfried Mai.
Together with the author, Jlvsn does a wonderful job creating these beats, so much so that it's hard to find a favorite, as most of these beats are "dreamy" and perfectly suited to the author's "killer" rap, as the title suggests. The music overall is one of the best recorded in the 2018 hip-hop season, this tape grows slowly with each listen, certainly one of the best ever released by the Dump Gawd.
Rating: 8.5/10.
