First collaborative album between rapper Ransom and producer Big Ghost LTD, both on their second effort over the course of the season. The guests are Mickey Factz, J. Arrr, RJ Payne, Rome Streetz, Lou, Vinnie Paz and Ill Bill.
Big Ghost's typical light boom bap production is fine, overall good, and he seems to be playing it safe: there are acceptable samples, honest drums, soul extracts and guitar licks to captivate the central part of the project. Nonetheless, Ransom feels held back here, almost as if he doesn't want to go wrong on this set of rhythms, and therefore comes out a simply honest album when he could be an easy contender for album of the year.
Rome Streetz elevates "Blackwater" as the album's flagship, while the other guests don't do much to stand out (RJ Payne happens on the beat that I preferred the least). The last track boasts a good elegant piano linked to a dark female melodic soul sample, dark production that finds a good flow of the MC, while among other highlights stands out "Ransom the Destroyer", where the rapper pulls out an unstoppable slow delivery on triumphal samples and downtempo drum, but doesn't definitely kill the beat. Consisting of 8 tracks + 2 skits and just under half an hour of listening, the tape is good but it could have been better than it is, 7/10.
