Album-producer by Selwin "4th Disciple" Bougard, a sort of solo debut twenty-seven years after scratching in "36 Chambers". The original member of the supergroup and part of Killarmy, makes a tape collaborating with Solomon Childs of School of the Gifted, Shabazz the Disciple of Sunz of Man, LA the Darkman, Planet Asia, Sean Price, Peedi Crakk, Rah Digga, Vinnie Paz, Sadat X, Jisiri X and Boaz.
Intro, then
Peedi Crakk delivers with regular style on a fresh boom bap with drum midtempo and good samples, the
State Property rapper sounds good.
Rah Digga performs the next cut on a boom bap with slow drum and tense samples, preceding
Solomon Childs: the MC ex
Theodore Unit signs "Live Now!" on a simple rhythm with distant drum and violin samples. Boaz is the rapper at the track number five, on a haunting sample, then
Shabazz arrives in "Anarchy", boom bap with dark piano loop. An interlude accompanies the listener to the second part: drum midtempo, good samples, slow delivery of
LA the Dark, longtime Wu-affiliate.
Sean P is the interpreter of "Bagua", a cut for which 4th Disciple creates a dirty rhythm with minimal drum and strings. The tenth track is a
Vinnie Paz solo on a dirty soundscape with midtempo drum and dark piano loop, it follows the regular style of
Planet Asia in "Mobin", before the last track, where Jisiri X and
Sadat X spit a few bars on a light drum midtempo.
12 short cuts, 2 skits, about half an hour of listening, 4th Disciple's music isn't as captivating as what he brilliantly made three decades earlier, nonetheless, fans of the East Coast scene might find it interesting.
Rating: 6.5/10.
