Roc Marciano — Marcielago

This record is released at the peak of Roc Marciano's lucky decade, which came out of the underground less than ten years ago. The music is realized by Roc Marciano himself, Animoss provides two beats, one is offered by The Alchemist. The guests are Ka, Knowledge the Pirate, Cook$, Westside Gunn and Willie the Kid.

It opens, genially, with the infamous interview of Prodigy, already made to appreciate again a few years ago by Cookin Soul, who cuts out the interview by combining it with an amazing jazzy soulful cheerful and lively rhythm creating a beautiful masterpiece (present in Whateva Vol. 1). Here Roc chooses a tight and light jazzy beat that highlights Prodigy's attack against the corny ass rappers present in the game. The Long Island emcee drops rhymes keeping the quality level high with his sharp, tight and smoothness style, rejoining the mafioso a couple of times and keeping a purely tense mood, while creating a minimalist soundscape, lo-fi, light jazzy for most of the listening — he leaves the beautiful pearl "Molly Ringwald" and "SAYLAVI" to Animoss, "Saw" to Alchemist — experiencing some change of rhythm during the same song and pulling out several high notes, including the essential and modern jazzy "Richard Gear", the heavenly midtempo "Ephesians" and the clean, clear and essential jazzy of "Puff Daddy", a cut in which even Cook$ shows a good verse. In "Boosie Fade", he returns to realizes an excellent midtempo, lo-fi, ethereal, beautifully delivered rhythm, but this is Griselda's home guys, Westside Gunn kills the cut. Roc closes the album with another tribute to veteran Max B, on a wonderful, excellent jazzy soulful beat.

Rating: 8/10.
