Raz Fresco & Daringer — Polo Sporty Since a Shorty EP

Raz Fresco, rapper from Toronto, Ontario, spits over a set of beats credited to the historic beatmaker of the Griselda family Daringer, from Buffalo, New York.

Intro, then Daringer's amazing jazzy midtempo boom bap, taut and dark beat, with beautiful strings sample looped in the background: on this carpet, Raz Fresco delivers tight bars with a slow and smooth, dope hardcore style. The second cut boasts excellent tense jazzy production, with dark piano samples, midtempo drum, and good smooth delivery of Raz Fresco. The Toronto MC offers a solid performance on the third track as well, on a dark and tense jazzy production, with midtempo drum and dark samples.

"Costra Nostra Flow" maintains the sound already tasted in the previous choices: introductory male soul sample, jazzy soundscape, drum midtempo, eccentric piano looped in the background, tight and mafia bars by Raz Fresco, with a slow flowing style. The fifth song struggles to stand out among the others, with a very good jazzy production, great taut and dark sample, drum midtempo, honest MC rapping. Finally, "Sportsman Parka" is the final track of the edition: boom bap jazzy rhythm, drum midtempo, saxophone sample too shrill in the background, slow syncopated delivery of the rapper.

The tape features six tracks and a quarter of hour of listening. The set of Daringer is full of boom bap jazzy midtempo with dark and tense samples, and on these rhythms Raz Fresco delivers crude and tight bars with a fluid style similar to that of Griselda rappers. Tape recommended for Griselda heads, 7.5/10.
