Articolo 31 — Così com'è

The third LP of Articolo 31 is the best-selling ever in Italy in the hip-hop genre, under which this effort is framed, thanks to its 600,000 physical copies sold that have dragged it to the diamond disc. No one has ever sold so many copies recording a rap album and it's also the only one to have obtained the diamond certification.

The CD, considered one of their best works, lasts up to 74 minutes of material, resulting in tiring and exhausting. From these 18 pieces are extracted 5 singles that all become hits thanks to their pop-dance-funky crossover sound. There's a decent producer and the beats are more accessible than usual, approaching the pop audience with hard, funky, meager tones, bad drums and generic samples. J-Ax's rapping is weak and energetic, he sometimes tries to spit hardcore, sounding more forgettable than usual: this guy has such an amateur level that he reminds me of Debbie's "Rapture", with the difference that Debbie can rap unlike Ax. To the detriment of the enormous commercial success achieved, they are lyrically awkward, and the content of the music is poor. These guys are a bit like Italian MC Hammer and this record is their "Please Hammer Don't Hurt 'Em" without the "U Can't Touch This". They are dissed by everyone, perhaps the best remains the "1 vs 2" masterpiece by DJ Gruff, who killed these posers in 1997. 3/10.
