Pioneering and historically important album for French hip hop, it's the first to obtain a critical response both at home both internationally, and contains the first commercial success of French rap, the single "Bouge de là".
The title of the album is a wordplay that non-Latins may not understand immediately, it refers to a biblical passage, "who sows the wind reaps the storm" ("qui sème le vent récolte la tempête", in French): and, in fact, it's the light wind that welcomes us on this record, after having driven the waves of the sea to break against the cliffs, before an elegant dope piano in the background, wonderful intro.
This MC Solaar debut album shows the union of an excellent simple production that is inspired by brilliant soul, funk and above all jazz samples, providing fantastic skinny boom bap rhythms, and an excellent rapping by the MC: Solaar is impeccable here, he delivers his bars with a quick and flowing style, elegant and unstoppable, writing lyrics that are sometimes lighter and sometimes more busy with rare flaws in his lyricism and remarkable results. Removed the ragga filler ("Ragga Jam") in which Solaar delivers in this style together with three other guests, there are several dope elements, including the sax samples and the ultra-rapid shots of the rapper scattered almost everywhere in the album. Recommended, especially for fans of rap jazz, Solaar doesn't disappoint and returns pleasant relaxing vibes.
Highlights: "Qui sème le vent récolte le tempo". Light jazzy beat, Solaar left to breath the vibrant rhythm, then he attacks with a rapid, effective, smoothness flow, sample sax dope for the outro. "Victim de la mode", "Caroline", "Bouge de là", "La devise".
Rating: 8/10.
